What on earth is a BASSETARIAN?
A Bassetarian is anyone who collects money for Droopy Basset Hound Rescue of Western PA
What is the Bassetarian Competition?
Each year at Slobberfest, we celebrate all of our Bassetarians by holding a competition to see who has raised the most money (picture is of 2021 trophy).
~ 1st Place receives a one-of-a-kind Clanimalzoo trophy (like the ones shown on this page) valued at $500.00
~ 2nd & 3rd Place receives a gift basket. This basket is a little different each year, but is valued at $100 or more and they also include a Clanimalzoo sculpture.
If you don't think you will be able to raise enough money to place in the top three, don't fret! Anyone who turns in at least $50 in donations will receive a FREE entry into the Slobberfest Ring Games (a $15 value).
Want a little more of a challenge? Anyone who turns in at least $500 in donations will receive a $50 Gift Certificate toward the Clanimalzoo sculpture of your choice!

But I don't like asking people for money!
I cannot think of anyone who likes to ask their family or friends for money, even if it's for a good cause! I know I don't either! But I've decided to become a Bassetarian this year anyway!
So, I've looked at the different ways I could raise money;
~ Ask family and friends for donations
~ Have a sale (bake sale, yard sale, craft sale or plant sale)
~ Place a donation can at a local store
~ Ask your employer if they offer fundraising ideas/help
~ Organize a relay (walk, run or bike)
~ Organize an event (Car Show, Golf Tournament, Pub Crawl, etc...)
~ Hold a public dinner (like spaghetti or BBQ)
~ Start a "Go Fund Me" page and share it on Facebook or other social media
~ Advertise that you will do chores for donations
~ Offer to wrap Christmas presents for donations
~ Put on a White Elephant Auction
~ Ask for donations via Facebook for my birthday!
I am sure there are more ways to raise money, but these are the ones I looked at. Last year I raised close to $200 by putting donation cans around town and $70 on Facebook for my birthday! I know that's not enough to win first place, but I will be able to enter my dog into the Center Ring Games for free!!
Please Note: If you do choose to ask your friends and family for money, make sure they know that for every $5.00 donation they give, their name is put into a raffle to win a $50 Gas Gift Card! PLUS all donations are tax deductible!
